Terry F. Piotraschke, Photographer

Formerly a resident of West Palm Beach, Florida, I was fortunate to have an amazing world of wildlife around me and the weather to enjoy it. I am a 72 year old, mother of three daughters, grandmother of six (the youngest of which was born in February of 2009), and great-grandmother of six at last count. My entire family and many of my long-time friends live in St. Charles/St. Louis, Missouri. You will notice my galleries contain a lot of photos from there. It will always be “home” to me and as of December, 2009, I am once again a permanent resident of the area.

Photography has been a part of my life for many years, but it wasn’t until one of my best friends, Carolyn Keiser, introduced me to the wonders of Photoshop that I became completely addicted. Finally, I have found a source of artistic expression that draws from many of the passions that have been a part of me for so many years. My skills and/or interests have never focused on the technical aspect, but more the creative side. Of course, I realize one needs some technical knowledge of most any art form in order to accomplish your creative goals. Over the years I have dabbled in sketching, painting, interior decorating, Japanese gardening, and floral arrangements. Just as it was necessary for me to learn what medium created what effects in sketching and painting, and what plants thrived in a particular area, or what composition was the most eye-appealing, it is also necessary to learn the proper workings of your camera equipment. Just keeping up with the day-to-day changes in computer technology is a time-consuming, never-ending learning experience. There is always something new to learn.

Fortunately, the new DSLRs give me a lot of assistance with the technical aspects of photography. The digital phenomenon is incredible. Love that “delete, delete, delete”. I am a Nikonian, having a Nikon D7000 and D300 as my main cameras and a D70 as my backup camera. I also have a couple Nikon compact digitals, including the waterproof AW100. Of course, I have a small array of lenses and flash equipment. I’m currently experimenting with Nikon’s Creative Lighting System and the fun of wireless flash. My camera bag never seems to be large enough for all the equipment I want. Lucky for me they now come with wheels!

All of my images are available for purchase. Please contact me if you are interested in any of them. Also, it would be appreciated if you leave comments and sign my Guestbook. Thank you so much for your interest and for taking the time to browse my website and “The Moments to Remember”.
